Are You Wasting Your Attention?

Nowadays, there are so many things to focus on; in both the real world and the virtual world. If someone lives in a big city, practically as soon as they leave their house their senses could be overloaded.
There can be adverts on the side of taxis, buses, above buildings and on billboards. And if they were to get on a bus or a tube, there will most likely be even more adverts for them to look at.
One Step Back
Still, their senses may have been overloaded long before they have even opened their front door. As soon as they woke up, they may have reached for their Smartphone and checked their messages.
Along with this, they may have scrolled through at least one social media site to see what has been going on. This might have been something that they did just before they went to bed, meaning that it may have disrupted their sleep.
During The Day
If one is on their way to work or to meet a friend, it doesn't mean that their Smartphone will end up being put away. This could be a time when they will check their Smartphone every now and then.
Once they get back home, they could continue to look through their Smartphone. Based on how much time they spend on their Smartphone, it will be as if it is a small child that needs a lot of attention in order to survive.
A Number of Areas
When they are online, there will be plenty of things that are screaming out for their attention. The media will try to catch their attention with information about what is taking place in the political arena and what is taking place in the world.
And while some of these stories might actually inform them, there will be others that will just fill their mind with useless information and things that they can't do anything about. They may find that certain stories unsettle them, causing them to experience a fair amount anger or fear.
Attention Economy
When one is focusing on all these external distractions, it is going to mean that they are not focusing on more important things. At the same time, they might not even realise that they are wasting their attention.
However, the people that are trying to sell them things that they don't really need and to define how they see the world will be pleased. They will have their attention and this might be the only thing that they need.
What Matters?
The time, energy and attention that they direct towards these distractions are going to be time, energy and attention that they won't have to direct towards developing themselves and working towards their own goals. But even if they do want to change their life, they may find that it is incredibly difficult for them to do so.
This is to be expected, given how long they are likely to have behaved in this way for and the fact that they may be hooked on dopamine. Cutting down on how much time they allow themselves to be distracted for will take time and being compassionate towards themselves while happens will make it easier.

Self-Worth Is Not Something That Is Developed Overnight

If someone doesn't feel good about themselves, they can look for a way to change how they feel. They could be in a very desperate place, which may mean that they will try just about anything if it promises to change their life.
So if they were to come across a book that said that their life could be changed in a few weeks or a course that claimed that their life could be transformed in a weekend, they might not even raise an eye brow. Without even thinking about it, they could end up taking the next step.
The Perfect Outcome
By reading this book and applying what they learn or going on a course and doing different exercise, for instance, their life may end up being transformed. How they feel about themselves will have changed, thereby allowing them to experience life differently.
They may be moments when they don't feel good, but in general, this won't be an issue. One will then have gone from feeling as though they were in a bath that was full of dirty water, to being in bath that is full of clean water.
Both Ways
Ultimately, they will be bathing in their own self-worth and this will be radically different to how it was before. The good feelings that they experience are then likely to be directed to others, too.
This could be seen as the ideal scenario, with it being how someone should experience life on this planet. The type of self-worth that they experience won't be based on them having an inflated sense of their own value; it will be something that is grounded in reality.
Another Experience
Conversely, someone may end up going down a path like this, only to find that how they feel about themselves doesn't really change. Or if it does change, it is not something that lasts for very long.
What this could then do is cause them to look for another book or course that will enable them transform how they feel about themselves. The same thing that took place last time they read a book/took a course could take place once gain.
A Deeper Look
If one was to take a step back and to reflect on what is driving their behaviour, they may find that they believe that there is something out there that will completely transform how they feel about themselves in a very short period of time and that will be the end of it. Said another way, they might be looking for a magic pill.
What might cross their mind at this point in time is that this is not something that will take place overnight. As a result of this, they will need to see self-worth as something that develops over time, as opposed to something that is developed and that's the end of it.
Another Belief
Furthermore, they may believe that this is something that they will develop by adding things. Ergo, using affirmations, having positive thoughts and doing loving things for themselves, for instance, can be seen as the way for them to change how they feel about themselves.
These things can all help; however, what they may come to see is that it is not so much about adding things as it is about letting things go. One way of looking at it would be to say that if it wasn't for all the baggage that they are carrying, they would feel good about themselves.
Chipping Away
The reason that they are disconnected from their inherent self-worth is most likely because of the trauma that they are carrying. Thus, as they work through the layers of pain that are inside them, more of their self-worth will be revealed.
If there was only one layer of trauma inside them, they would be able to connect to it after one course or one healing session, for instance. It is a bit like the grieving process inasmuch as they will be many layers of pain to work through and there can be times when they feel worse, not better.
Final Thoughts
With this in mind, it will be important for one to be patient and not to expect too much too soon. When it comes to the layers of trauma that they are working through, a lot of this trauma can relate to what took place during their early years.
One way for them to work through this pain is to reach out for the support of a therapist or a healer. Inner child work can be a big part of what will allow them to develop a stronger connection to their inherent worth.

How to Develop a Heart As Big As a House

The Hawaiian word "Ho"omaika'I", means to have a spirit of gratitude and thankfulness. "He'opu halau" means to have a heart as big as a house. This is said of a person who is kind, gracious and hospitable. This quality of loving kindness in encouraged in the Hawaiian culture as a way of expressing aloha or love. During this month of November when we celebrate Thanksgiving, let us remember that thankfulness, kindness and generosity are qualities that are learned, and take patience and practice to develop.
We learn to be grateful as kids when the adults around us talk about thankfulness and why it is important. They may also teach us to write "mahalo" or thank you cards and to express thanks with smiles, hugs and offerings of food. But, we may not have grown up in families that taught us to value developing an attitude of gratitude. The good news is that it is never too late to acquire this skill. We can even learn how to be appreciate and express thankfulness when situations seem especially challenging.
These times of pain that life bring, are often the greatest opportunities for spiritual growth in our lives and in the lives of those we love. Yet, rarely do you hear a person say "Thank you for this loss" or "Thanks for this pain in my life". It is easy to give thanks for the simple things like the sky, ocean, family, friends, having a place to live, and health, but giving thanks for the unexpected hardships that life brings takes a mature soul's perspective.
This response can be learned as an individual nurtures the awakening of their higher self in their life. The shift from being a victim to life circumstances to being a conscious participant in life's drama, is a huge quantum leap in consciousness. To become gratitude for painful soul growth experiences is to recognize that true aliveness comes from embracing all of life, not just the good and easy times. Some of my most profound thankfulness has come, after being shaken awake by the death of a friend. Suddenly just the gift of life is a miracle to be cherished and honored. Anything that I take for granted, becomes valuable when it is lost. To learn to be a true spiritual master upon this plane of suffering and strife is to cultivate an attitude of gratitude regardless of the situation. There is always somebody worse off than you and this perspective can indeed bring humility and grace. Each hardship is an opportunity to grow in faith and love in a divine plan.
With a crisis, there often comes the acceptance that we need to allow or invite help or support from another. Crisis is also an opportunity to become more sensitive to the feelings of others and develop empathy and compassion. We become closer to others through adversities if we are willing to gratefully reach out rather than withdraw when times get tough
.
I can now say that I am grateful for both the good times and the bad times in life. I have learned that the easy flowing periods of life, comfort me when the challenges come. Rather than letting the hurdles stop me from being grateful and trusting in life, I can now say "Thank you". Thank you infinite universe for this opportunity to stretch beyond my known way of being, into a larger perspective. This is the nature of life: to humble and teach us to trust that no matter how things appear there is a lot to be grateful for.
May your heart be as big as a house, and may you have a very Happy Thanksgiving.

How the Way of Thinking Changes Your Life

Once you reach adulthood things tend to change and become what they never were. Putting it simply, maturity makes you think differently. Every day we encounter problems and within the growing age, we are able to tackle them in a better way. Apart from problems or incidents we interact with a lot of people or bump into them. That interaction makes us have an image of other people. What makes an image better or worse is the way we perceive things. Undoubtedly, people can have different behaviors and can make others think of them in a certain way but most of it is the product of our own perception.
We see things, we assess things and eventually, we behave the same way. For instance, owing to some problem we get depressed. Depression itself is a cause of negativity in the way of thinking. In that case, everything that has a great deal of righteousness and goodness in it seems to be stupid, awkward or depressing. The other way round, you start thinking that anybody or anything that you are facing should be avoided or treated severely. That's how your behavior changes gradually or in a worse case can get permanence.
Another example can be the way when you see things perfectly well even they not are. It only happens when you are in a pleasant mood or simply you are happy. You may notice that you take things as positive and cannot blow up so easily even if it usually provokes you to. These cases are not always the same way but mostly these are the behaviors that typically belong to human nature. So it's the perception that makes you who you are.
Let's do a simple experiment with yourself. Whenever you look at others just try to find positive things or qualities in the nature of people. It is not possible that a person you are assessing lack every quality worth noticing. Nobody's a demon altogether. There can have positive aspects of one's nature waiting for you to notice. In this way, your mind would have a broader and positive perspective which can enable you to be happier and make things easier. A slight but continuous change in your attitude can make your life comfortable. It's probably the best way to tackle problems. Lastly, lessen your unreasonable worries, lessen negativity, prolong the happy moments as you deserve them the most.

When was the last time you felt truly passionate about something? Felt good, right? And so it should! Good thing is, you can learn how to restore passion for your life.
Passion is most evident when body, mind and spirit work together to create, articulate or manifest feelings, ideas and values. Passion is ignited when all of you work together. It is the presence of your soul combined with the totality of all you've experienced, and it empowers to live at optimal levels.
Passion your natural state. When what you do is in alignment with who you are, it increases your energy. Passion is like water flowing along its natural riverbed, gaining momentum from its course - unlike many work environments, where it feels more like trying to force water up and over a mountain!
Passion creates resilience. It enables you to overcome obstacles and to look beyond current setbacks to the infinite potential that's yours to claim. The passionate soul discovers nuggets of potential in every situation.
Passion transfers vibrant energy to every person or situation it touches. You can't fake it. Anyone can spot a phony by sensing lack of authenticity and depth in their actions.
And yet, many people run from passion because they're afraid of being burned. They hang on to the pain of betrayed trust and misplaced confidences as a reminder to dampen their own passion, lest they be hurt again. Perhaps they held the bucket for soulless greed and overzealous egos disguised as passion. Consequently, they're afraid of taking the risk to live life fully, openly and passionately. They may have even vowed to never go there again.
Instead, they opt for a more predictable, monochromatic existence. Rather than taking exploring the endless possibilities of life, they insist on hiding inside a safety bubble; giving up on adventure to exist in a sanitary, colorless world where nothing new happens.
What they really need is to restore their passion!
If you want a juicy life, you need to open your heart and mind to the multidimensional experience of passionate living every day.
Can you imagine how much more meaningful our roles as parents, lovers, business owners, employees, teachers and leaders would be if all our actions were predicated on our true passion? There is no limit to how far your influence can reach! To tap into your potential, you must engage life with passion. By bringing passion to what you do, you express every aspect of your creative being.
Here's the secret to living a passionate life: Never try to throttle down your passion for fear of what might show up! You cannot selectively suppress some part of your being without also suppressing the rest of your energy. When you suppress your passion, you also suppress your Life Force.
Truth is, every activity you engage in expresses the whole of you - much like one part of a hologram reflects the whole in its entirety. Even if you pick a narrow skill like running a marathon or cooking, your whole sense of self is expressed through that activity when doing it with passion.
When living from your passion, you bring your entire identity to the party, not just an isolated part. This may sound daunting, but actually it's the most natural way to approach anything.
When you hold some part of yourself back, you deny it exposure to life; you repress its energy and keep it from learning what it needs to know. Imagine a baby who wants to learn how to walk but has these reservations:
  • I don't want to look bad.
  • I don't want to fall down.
  • I don't want to fail.
  • I don't want to expend all my energy.
  • I don't want any pain.
  • I don't want to suffer.
It would seem absurd! If these thoughts prevail, the chance for mastery could never present itself. Yet as adults we resort to such reservations all the time - and deny ourselves mastery as a result.
The minute a situation arises, all the negatives around that situation will arise in the mind along with all the possibilities. The key is that you have a choice about which to focus on!
When you choose to focus on negatives, you yield to subconscious fear to shut out understanding. Do that often enough and you become a victim, subject to bewildering fears that can threaten to overwhelm you. These fears aren't coming from blind fate or misfortune; they simply represent holes in your awareness, the places where you haven't dared to look yet.
To break free from such self-limiting behavior, try looking at an issue that has kept you from totally engaging in life. For instance, if you are worried about what others may think of your effort, then that is the issue you need to challenge!
When I launched out into a solo practice, well-intended friends questioned whether I would make it in a highly demanding field. I chose not to listen to the voices of apprehension; instead, I redoubled my efforts because my passion is to help people.
At the time, it was the scariest, riskiest, most challenging thing I could think of doing with my life. It was also the one thing that kept me dreaming and working against all odds. Today, I can look back at decades of amazing outcomes and success.
Choosing to follow my passion took me to the edge of my comfort zone and stretched me in every way possible. It also brought growth, joy and fulfillment into every area of my life. I wouldn't trade what I'm doing for the world, because I get to use my innate gifts daily. I love living in alignment with my purpose and my passion!

Let's be truthfully honest: Are you happy with your life or do you wish things were different? For example, how would a life coach evaluate it? Would they make adjustments here and there or give you their sign of approval? Sometimes we allow our negative emotions to get in the way of what life is trying to tell us. We might see our friends or those on Instagram living wonderful lives and wish ours was the same. Though we are not looking at things objectively but judging it on appearances alone. No matter how successful, rich or happy you are, there will always be challenges and no one is immune from them. Does it make sense that wishing for a better life doesn't bring it into existence? It requires picking apart what is not working and attending to those details consistently.
It's no secret, everyone wants a better life. But as you may or may not know, the grass is rarely greener on the other side. It may appear that way but as soon as you attract better circumstances there will be new problems and challenges to overcome. For example, those who are single might lament their loneliness and want to be in an intimate relationship to compensate for this. However, some become disheartened when the relationship doesn't meet their expectations and they wish they were single once more. The same is true with money. When we're struggling financially, we wish for an endless supply of money, however if we become financially successful, there are other challenges that arise. Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting we shouldn't become financially free. Though, we ought to develop the right mindset so irrespective of whether we are rich or poor, single or in a relationship, we will be happy nonetheless. How do you feel about this? Can you learn to be happy with your current circumstances knowing your life is a work in progress?
Work Through Your Problems
The key is understanding that life is a constantly evolving process. Sometimes we will experience difficulties, pain and struggles, while other times we will experience joy, elation and success. Winston Churchill said it perfectly: "Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm." He knew that to succeed, we mustn't lose enthusiasm despite our difficulties. Challenges help us sharpen the saw of our character. Whilst it may not be clear to us at the time, our pain and troubles can help us get clear on living the life we dreamed of. I have encountered many challenges throughout my life. There were moments where I thought I was doomed for failure. Not that I didn't want to succeed, though every time I tried, I failed miserably. I thought life was against me and I compared myself to others who were succeeding. But those lessons contributed to my personal development. What you believe to be deleterious may be the greatest thing for your personal growth. It is said: The obstacle is the way.
Is this making sense? Can you appreciate what happens outside of you reflects what is taking place within you? I'm certain you have many questions brewing inside your mind. I invite you to write them down in a journal, if you use one. If you don't, it would be a good time to start because journaling is an effective way to observe the theme of your life. This is the first thing I recommend to new coaching clients when we work together. Journaling is a powerful tool to become aware of our thoughts and work through our difficulties. It requires observing what is not working in your life and coming up with ways to overcome those challenges. You literally become better at working through solutions instead of falling into despair. Even if we like to compare ourselves to others, we realise it is futile because the assessment is unproductive. We ought to become our own motivator, counsellor if we wish to conquer our challenges.
As we work through our problems, life will not seem as bleak as we think. It only looks that way because we get stuck in a certain way of living and can't find our way out. We are like mice in a lab experiment, spinning on a never-ending wheel with no exit. The keys are in your hand and they lie in your ability to find solutions to your problems. With this in mind, I'd like you to take one pressing issue in your life and journal five to eight solutions. They might not look impressive upon first glance, however revisit them over the coming days and narrow them down to three. When you are satisfied, pick one and act on it. Note in your journal whether it helps you or if it requires more steps. It is when we stop wishing for a better life and embrace the one we are given, that we appreciate a better life has been staring us in the face all along.

10 Steps to Achieving Anything You Want

8 Tips To Cope With Very Bad News

It's not easy. It's never easy. And nothing can really help you forget the situation. But there are a few little tricks that might somehow soothe you or make you find some extra strength and there are some other things that you should try and avoid in order to not feel even worse.
Let me try and summarize a few tips for you. Remember, this is not about your sick loved ones now, but about you...
  1. Think up two or three positive thoughts or recall two happy or better yet, funny memories and keep them ready to tell your loved one if the moment arises. You have to think of them when you're alone because life tends to get busy or overwhelming when near a sick person. Grab the opportunities to give them little gifts of happiness throughout the day. Have some stories, anecdotes or memories ready at all times. Be ready to force a change of subject in the conversation when you feel that you and the patient are going in circles around the same old themes. That will act as a flush of fresh, invigorating breeze.

  2. Whenever you're with your loved sick ones, focus all your attention on them and try not to think about your pain. It can never match theirs. And don't let mental digressions divert you from your real chore which is keeping yourself strong enough to help the person you love. It's easy to ask oneself "why us, why me?" It's in fact an unavoidable question. But it's a question that has no answer and looking for one obsessively will not solve the problem and will deduct from your energy reserves. When that question (or similar ones) pop into your head, look at it squarely for a couple of seconds and then let your thoughts tell it to leave you alone. Turn your attention to more fruitful endeavors.

  3. Keep busy. Don't sit around letting questions attack you. Don't stay in bed if you're awake doing nothing; grab a book or get up to bake some cookies. Anything is better than letting destructive or depressive thoughts and tortuous questions engulf you. One of my favorites is writing something for my loved ones when my mind doesn't seem to find any peace. The mere act of sitting at the computer or holding the pen in my hand helps me focus and fight negative ideas. Another favorite one of mine is, of course, reading. Reading soothes my mind so much! It helps me run away from my reality for a little while and has proven to be a great way to reduce stress. But whatever you read must be of interest to you. Don't try to take any book laying around in your house. Choose something that has meaning and you really want to know about.

  4. Meet up with friends who can support you too. Find moments to vent your anger and sadness away from your sick loved one but supported by friends or others who care for you. Let others share your pain and comfort you, too. Don't play hero all day long; it's exhausting and you need to save up your energy.

  5. If not with friends, try to vent your anger and distress by running, exercising, walking or practicing any sport you like or engaging in any manual activity of your choice. Doing something physical helps the mind focus. It's OK to feel angry and frustrated, it's only natural. And crying is also good. But no matter what you do, don't let the anger and frustration accumulate inside you. Those two are very destructive forces that will only lead to more sadness. Feel them, face them and understand that what you are feeling is a natural reaction. Then vent away any unacceptable or excessive accumulations by doing something physical.

  6. Plan little actions for each day. Some of them you will undertake, others will remain just planned. Have things to do at all times: rent a movie, order a book, organize a small reunion with friends over drinks, decide what to cook for dinner... even if your days seem completely full and overfilled, still plan ahead. Planning daily things to do with or without the patient will give you a sense of normalcy that will help bear the hours. Some of those plans you can design together with your loved one: discuss the details, talk about the choices... as you would do under any other circumstances.

  7. There will be times when your mind and your soul will ask for quiet and peace, for silence and inactivity. Take a break. Give yourself some moments alone and don't feel guilty for taking them. Let your thoughts and raw feelings rest a bit. But make sure those times don't turn into self-punishment. If you feel that your mind is starting to go in circles around unanswerable questions again, put a stop to it. What to Do When Overwhelmed by Your Reality?

At times, life feels like an overwhelming affair. There's too much to do, too much to think, too much to worry about. What can we do to fight that feeling? Sometimes life seems to be too much to bear. Some people feel overwhelmed by the constant rush and the many things to do. Others just can't stand the incessant murmur of their never-ending thoughts. Some, still, can't cope with their feelings of inadequacy or insecurity. They all try different solutions, among which maybe meditation or mindfulness could be tested, but that is often just not enough to counteract the feeling. Let us go over some of the causes of such feelings, first, to then study some possible tools and solutions. Too many things to do: most of us have grown up in societies in which competition and success are paramount and the true measure of our value. As a consequence, we feel obliged to constantly aim at greater, higher goals. Being good is never enough, as excellence and supremacy are the only acceptable levels. This type of belief, inherited from our environment, pushes us to constantly seek more, do more, expect more of ourselves. There's a whole world to impress in front of us and that demands that we devote most of our time to doing things that will get us closer to our goal and that any free time we happen to find, we also use pursuing our constant improvement. Too many thoughts: rumination starts in most human beings as a form of daydreaming. Already in childhood, some people devote quite a lot of their time to letting themselves get lost in their thoughts while disconnecting from reality. What soon becomes a habit is almost invariably paired with negative projections of that future, as we learn to worry about what may be or what may happen. Very few people ruminate about positive, happy things; most do about negative, worrisome or painful ones. Constant thinking about negative aspects quickly becomes a way of life and those who embark on it find it difficult to change the pattern. Any form of rumination, be it focused on the past or the future, yields certain chemicals and sensations that our brain soon becomes addicted to. Not having them can cause withdrawal-like symptoms and result in a permanent need to recreate them. Thus, the rumination continues, grows and becomes never-ending. Living in the past: when human beings ruminate, they usually do so focused on two different scenarios, and only those two: the past or the future. When in the past, they are trying to make sense of something that happened that still makes them feel guilty, sad or hurt. Not being able to change whatever happened then often overwhelms them and makes them feel powerless. Living in the future: when in the future, people are trying to ready themselves to face something that scares them, constantly asking themselves, 'what if... ?' The more time they spend in those scenarios, the more often they need to return. People who spend so long in the future in their minds become overwhelmed by the wide range of possible difficulties and hurdles they may encounter and by the growing belief in their failure to succeed. Feeling inadequate or insecure: many people suffer from low self-esteem or insecurities which are the result of weak beliefs and convictions. When a person holds strong beliefs, there is no insecurity. It comes from uncertainty and doubt. Those who feel like they're not good enough or insufficient, tend to find it hard to cope with their circumstances and the reality around them, not because it is posing them too many challenges but because they think they are not capable or strong enough. Everything becomes complicated and one problem piles on top of the next until people feel completely overwhelmed. So, what can be done? First of all, take a deep breath. Nothing will change if you can't stop for a second and focus on the task at hand. The more unfocused you are, the harder it will get. This applies to all the possible causes mentioned above: the more you worry, the more anxious you get and the less energy you then have to really face up to your problems. By the time you need to overcome them, you are exhausted. Second, focus on the HERE and the NOW. The more time you spend either in the past or in the future... the less time you have to focus on the problem at hand; the less energy you have when you finally decide to tackle the situation in front of you; the less aware you are of the real circumstances around you and the less resources you are then able to perceive and find; and the less you learn for future, similar situations. In order to be in the here and the now, you need to make the conscious effort to do so. You need to fight the habit that drives you away into the past or the future. A good tool to use is any form of mindfulness: focusing on one object around you and assessing it using your 5 senses: smell, touch, taste, hearing and sight; focusing on feeling your ten toes without actually moving them; engaging on any type of activity by totally submerging yourself in it through your 5 senses. Another important tool to be used is drastically stopping whatever you are doing and doing just the opposite or something completely different. For instance, if you're sitting and you suddenly realize you're ruminating or getting carried away into your mind, stand up and start moving. Or, if you're walking, just sit down anywhere or start dancing. Changing our actions forces us to be in the here and the now. Third, use the Kaizen technique. We often feel overwhelmed, as was already discussed above, when there's too much on our plate. We have important goals to reach and those feel unreachable. Kaizen implies reducing our goals to more manageable steps and taking those steps, one by one. So, if you for instance, need to exercise because the doctor told you to, running or cycling for one hour everyday might sound like an impossible task. Applying this Japanese technique, you would start by only doing it for 5 minutes the first day and celebrating achieving that little milestone. The second day you would do it for just 10 minutes, then celebrate it, and so on until reaching the desired 60 minutes. Celebrating the small steps is a fundamental part of the process because it helps us change our beliefs and boosts our self-esteem. Fourth, identify and question the beliefs that make you doubt yourself. In order to do this, I usually recommend using a "self-talk diary," a notebook (or recording system) in which to note down any negative or critical self-talk we catch ourselves using. All those messages to ourselves hide our deepest beliefs. An example would be you telling yourself... 'I will never get the promotion because nobody likes me,' which is another way of telling yourself that you're not likeable or worthy. Identify all the labels you give yourself in order to understand why your self-esteem is so low. Those are the messages you keep on telling yourself. Are you surprised you feel insecure? Do this for at least a couple of weeks. Once you identify your beliefs (through those labels and messages), ask yourself wether they empower you or limit you and if you wish to keep them. If you decide to let them go, you will need to find a replacement, as no belief can be simply erased. In order to find a replacement, look for a message that cancels the previous one and start repeating it to yourself. There is one important rule here: the new message can not be the opposite of the previous one, because your brain will just not believe it. It needs to be one that partially cancels it, opening a new avenue for you. Using the same example as before, you might have been telling yourself that you're not likeable. Your new message could be something like, "some people like me," or "I sometimes like myself," or even, "there's a lot in me to be liked." Once you repeat it often enough, you might start feeling it come true. At that moment, celebrate the feeling. The more you do this, the easier it will be for you to start accepting the new belief and replacing the old one. Warning: question and change only one belief at a time and don't start on a second one until having worked on the first one for at least two weeks. Questioning too many beliefs simultaneously can lead to crises. Fifth, use tool number 4 to also question yourself about your beliefs regarding competition and success. What do you believe about them? What are your expectations? What messages do you give yourself? Do they empower or limit you? Do you want to keep them? Feeling overwhelmed is extremely prevalent and limiting. Use this information to start understanding and managing the reasons behind your feelings and things will quickly start changing for you. You have the power to change the way in which you interpret your circumstances and your reality. Start letting go of those limitations and take better control of your life. The process described above is a summary of many of the techniques and strategies used in humanology and should best be implemented with the help of expert humanologists, the professionals that study and explain human beings. It is not possible that a person you are assessing lack every quality worth noticing. Nobody's a demon altogether. There can have positive aspects of one's nature waiting for you to notice. In this way, your mind would have a broader and positive perspective which can enable you to be happier and make things easier. How You THINK, You Are

While some people possess certain skills, abilities, attributes, and an aptitude, which might be beneficial, and give them, a, so - called, leg - up, on the rest of us, in the vast number of instances, and situations, it's our quality of thinking, which creates, either, a positive, can - do, attitude, or an abundance of weakness, and self - doubt. Those, with self - confidence, and a positive, self - image, generally, start off, with a significant advantage, over those who think, they can't. While your thinking, and thought - processes, are significant, the most essential component, is when one begins with the concept and idea, he will be successful, and begins to behave and act, as a success, does, his potential is exponentially, enhanced! As the adage goes, As you THINK, you are! With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly examine, review, consider, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, why this concept is one of the most important, to one's ability to perform, to his potential.
1. Trust; temptation; timely; traction; thoughts: Our thoughts, often, control our actions, and thus, our performance. The more, we trust ourselves, the less likely, one is, to let the temptation, to accept, a short - cut, rather than the best approach. While most procrastinate, because of lack of, optimum, self - confidence, etc, the most successful individuals, proceed, with well - considered, timely action, When one refuses to remain within the limitations of his personal, comfort zone, and expands it, and proceeds, proactively, he begins to gain the necessary traction, to become the best, he can be!
2. Head/ heart; hear: When you have those, intimate, self - conversations, what do you tell yourself, and, precisely, what do you hear, and why? Will you be able to effectively utilize your emotional and logical components, with a head/ heart balance?
3. Inspire; imagine; image; ideas; integrity: While many claim to, few actually, proceed, with the utmost degree of personal integrity! WIll your thoughts inspire you, or be a hindrance? What image do you visualize, and what do you imagine, you can achieve? WIll you use these qualities, to perceive and conceive of, create, develop, and implement, quality actions, based on your ideas?
4. Needs; never: Will you commit, to, never - say - never? Will you identify, and prioritize, your personal goals, and address your needs, in a proactive manner?
5. Knowledge; know: Are you focused - enough, to make knowledge, your friend and ally, so you know, your options and alternatives, and proceed, with the finest judgment, and hopefully, wisdom?

Mindset Vs Skill - How to Succeed in Business

An online mentor of mine, Jennifer Allwood, shares that "business is 20% strategy and 80% mindset". While the "strategy" of a business is very important, to be successful you must have the right mindset about yourself, your company and your customers.
If you are a small business owner and you are looking for the "secret strategy" to change your business, you could spend all of your time in search of strategy. For example, scroll through Facebook and you will see the 100's of trainers, coaches and experts who are trying to sell you the latest "gadget" for success.
Stop enrolling in every Free Group and Free Download that you see. You are WASTING your time by chasing a shiny new object that is just not out there.
Learn the skills you need, know your audience, and stay plugged in to your industry. After that? It's all about Mindset.
How do you know if you have a mindset problem?
You keep searching for the "right" skill, the "right" training or that "right" coach that will give you the Magic Pill or Secret Sauce for success. Here are a few examples that might indicate you have a mindset problem:
  • Complain about the success of others
  • Enroll in every course/training you see on social media
  • Continue to ask for the Right Words to describe your product or what you do
  • Buy every planner in search of a better system
  • Always busy but not completing Income Producing Activities
  • Not consistent in small, daily activities
If you are searching constantly for skills, then you don't believe in yourself or your business. To succeed, you need the mindset component along with the skills.
Subconscious Mind
Your Subconscious Mind runs the show based on unfiltered information known as beliefs. Your Mind believes everything that you think. For example, when you say these things, your mind believes it:
  • Why am I so stupid?
  • I will never get that promotion.
  • I'm not very pretty.
  • I'm not smart enough.
  • I'll never be successful like "Suzy".
Each and every time you say these phrases out loud and in your mind, your brain believes the statement! Next, you must learn how to change your mindset.
How to Change Your Mindset?
If we know that changing our mindset is key, then why are we not doing it? And most importantly how do we change our mindset? It's not easy, but keep it simple and you can Change Your Mindset!
There are several recommendations that I can make for changing your mindset.
  • Personal Development?-?I highly recommend Mel Robbins and her resources.
  • Daily Affirmations! Write them on your bathroom mirror or maybe a Pinterest board.
  • Eliminate Distractions and get new friends
  • Don't allow yourself to say negative things about yourself
  • Make it an everyday habit
To get the life you want, you must let go of old limiting beliefs. Tackle the mindset beliefs that are keeping you from moving forward, keeping you from reaching your greatness!
If you have a small business, please know that you must have the skills for your business. But, you must also have the right mindset for success. You need skills and mindset!

Inspiring people is a great quality to possess that has made me want more out of life.
Along with inspiration came along competition and striving to be the best.
This has made me also adapt the "be hard and disciplined on yourself," philosophy.
Being competitive and number one has it's perks. So, I challenge you to be number one. And if you're not competitive it's okay. It's about being better.
Could you do this for yourself?
To succeed I learned to nourish my mind, spirit and soul. These things are the precious assets I possess. Invest in them. They are the ones that will get you closer to your dream.
I believe you must immerse yourself in your dream. This is the only way you'll stay inspired and overcome obstacles.
My dream is to become an inspirational blog writer. It's an impossibility to some, but a possibility for me. I do not understand why they can't see that.
But it's my stubbornness that also helps me keep going.
And when negativity has enter my heart. I have not let it destroy my dreams. Even when things are discouraging.
You have to keep going everyday. Push yourself to win by seeking new higher levels even if you're scared. You don't know how scared I am to fail. But I am here aren't I?
It's your responsibility to accomplish your goal. Then reap the big rewards that come with your hard earn sweat.
Just do it even if you don't know where to start by grinding everyday.
I haven't reached the height of my success yet and I work on this every day. Work has allowed me to stop thinking about quitting.
Part of life is overcoming the road blocks standing in your way by making a difference in a person's life.
And how exciting would it be if you start with yours?
So, do not give up on yourself. I imagine the difference achieving my goal will make in my life.
And I will not stop until I have let out my last dying breath when I am old and wrinkly.
But before then, I will rise above all adversities by getting better daily. Finding ways to inspire and make a difference in myself first.
The idea of being an inspirational writer, keeps me alive. I truly see a book published having my name. This is something I want to prove to myself.
The art of inspiring is a craft I haven't yet mastered and I am learning everyday. I find space to learn it.
Brendon Burchar once said something similar, "It's your responsibility to achieve your goal when people disagree with you." So, it's best I hold on tight to my dreams and goals.
I am.
Because mastering the art of inspiration will allow me to spend more time with the things I love most like: family and inspirational writing.
I want to use this gift and share it with the world because it has done wonders in me. I have achieved a lot in life by feeling inspired.
What better way to enjoy life doing the things I love most. You get the point? Just get inspired.
Start by being hard on yourself by setting goals.
To make a difference in your own life you must master your fears. They matter in achieving goals.
Adopt a healthy self-improvement journey in your life. Be competitive with your own self. It will take you places never before imagined.
Start by defining a goal and knowing where it will take you. It loses direction if you don't tell it. Your goal should have direction.
Choose a direction filled with happiness and joy. If possible choose a route with mental and spiritual awakening. I have.
You'll eventually achieve your goal along the way. Just remember that it's the small differences in life that will help you keep going.
Also do everything possible to achieve it.
I am doing everything I can. My ultimate goal is to publish an inspiring book that will encourage people to achieve theirs. I am not giving up on that.
I have come this far by setting goals and believing something special out there is for me.
Believe there's something special waiting for you too.
The only thing waiting for me is inspiring people. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with the rest. I do it by pushing myself to grow each day.
It's a great feeling doing what I love doing best in this world. And I want to do that again. So, I took up the challenge to learn how to inspire by setting up a blog and sharing it.
Last week I inspired one person, and it's those little differences that help me keep going.
The more I inspire the further my confidence grew. I know I can do this.
Just work intelligently, persistently and you'll prevail. The more you invest in yourself the more you'll succeed.
Opportunities will open up to you the more you work on yourself. Allow yourself to be open.
I take every opportunity that will help me improve.
I am always on alert implementing new ideas to get better.
"Wow this is a good idea,"
I write it down to and share it.
Despite writing for years I know writing it will replace my day job. As I constantly work on getting better. I feel it getting closer.
I believe words change people. That is why it has caught my attention, how they heal, mold and transform people. As an aspiring writer it's my dream to have my work shared and
make a change in the world positively.
That is why I started a blog.
Nothing in this world is easy. Life is one long struggle and nothing is certain. I am not satisfied. So, I keep writing to change that dissatisfaction.
I wish I can work on your dream, but it would be emotionally draining. It's your responsibility to work on yours.
Even when your family and friends are doubting you. Do not be surprised. You'll come across that a lot. Do not take it personal.
Just keep improving yourself as you share your dreams to disapprovingly faces.
Perhaps they are right, but do not believe them. I don't.
Lastly, don't rush things too; slowly you'll get further. I learned this lesson the hard way.
